THE
NAME SAYS IT ALL
The
speedwell, a pretty blue flower used in herbal medicine for centuries,
is a fitting emblem for this Trust – in both name and in nature.
It represents protection and compassion and its very name sums up
the Trust’s prime aim of encouraging WELL-BEING for ALL.
As
with many other charities, large and small, the motivation behind
the Speedwell and WellBeing Trust stems from one inspirational,
well-respected individual. When diagnosed with breast cancer, Sally
Baldwin wanted to pursue all available avenues of treatment. She
didn’t want to compete with, or ignore, conventional treatments,
but simply to make the most of all her options. She wanted to be
pro-active and to take some personal responsibility for her own
health.
The
approach helped her to enjoy not just further months of life, but
years. However, as she began to consider her choices, she soon realised
how little relevant guidance and information was available about
complementary therapies and how to use them alongside mainstream
medical treatment.
By
establishing this Trust, Sally has provided a more easily accessible
route for others to follow and share the knowledge, experience and,
ultimately, improved health that she herself gained.
Today
The Speedwell and WellBeing trust continues to grow, giving access
to information on health matters including complementary and alternative
therapies and encouraging people from all walks of life, in varying
degrees of health, to take better care of themselves and of others.
Promoting
healthier living for all – through information, explanation
and greater understanding of natural ways to combat illness and
take better care of yourself and others.
