“Can I mix so-called complementary therapies with my conventional treatment?”
person
“Is there a difference between an osteopath and a chiropractor - don't they both do backs?”

Local therapists, who practise a wide range of complementary therapies, play an important role in The Speedwell and WellBeing Trust

To build upon the link between practitioners and the Trust, a Therapists’ Group now meets informally on a regular basis, usually at a local Oxford clinic.

For the therapists involved there is not only the benefit of networking with other practitioners and representatives of The Trust, but also an opportunity to inform the public about themselves, their specialist therapy and the wider issue of using complementary therapies alongside conventional medicine to potentially improve health.

One of the group’s aims is to enable members of the local community to interact with therapists and to be able to find out, firsthand, more about using complementary treatments.

A team of therapists is, therefore, available to go into schools, colleges, clubs companies and other organisations to talk, hold a workshop, or run tailor-made healthy living programmes. The approach is very flexible, according to the requirements of the organisation. The event can focus on a theme – stress, for example, or women’s health – and can fit into a given time slot.

If you are involved with an organisation which might welcome a healthy living event for its staff, pupils/parents or other members, please ring the Helpline for further information.

We also welcome calls from practitioners of complementary therapies who would like to find out more about the Trust and/or the Therapists’ Group.
